Ode to Summer

Hello to the sunny season

Watermelon light sizzles over the fresh horizon

Avid athletes take to the streets

Sleepyheads dream away the early hours

Cool air accepts the warm arms of sunshine

Popsicle ices stain tongues blue

Backyard waters ripple for their visitors

Simmering meat sends charcoal bliss to mind

Green grass is stamped with steps of the young and free

Stores awaken under geometric bright patterns

Salty sweet lotion is smelled everywhere

Movie theaters race to release blockbusters

Red, white, and blue send spirits sky-high

Temporary loves spark and soften hearts

Golden tans or strawberry burns dye taut skin

Who cares when school begins?
