Robots to the Rescue?

The world is being to be taken over by megabytes. Technology is all about the latest design, it is the now and the future. It is our sole source for communication, our immersion into the moment rather than the past, an ultimate and universal connection of human interaction. Phones and mp3s are designed to hold our precious music, conversations, and photos, including the essential internet application. As laptops and gadgets become physically ubiquitous, we in turn become socially ubiquitous. So what are we going to use them for? Or will we utilize them as idols rather than tools?

An idol is something that has been attributed high worth.

Before the iPhone 4 was designed to upgrade the app mania, mankind was designed by God to worship. The word worship is derived from worth. We are created to give worth. Supremely to God’s holiness. But what is our society giving worth to? Right now technology. Maybe our hope lies in the Lord, but our wishes single out into a friend request or the next Mac. I’m trying not to be over dramatic, yet  technology is a distraction if anything. I’m on this computer right now, and texting simultaneously! The problem is away from work, school, and friends, the call of facebook and search engines begin to absorb our sense of the world- our life.

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator- who is forever praised. Romans 1:25

And while technology is our future and cannot be denied when the reward of progress is ahead, we have to remember it cannot save us from ourselves, since we made it. Only God can save us. He is bigger than any hard drive or worldwide software. He is bigger than a Myspace family and the infinite words on a keyboard. He is the universe.

Just remember that next time you leave the office or inbox, and look at the sky.

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them our like a tent to live in. Isaiah 40:22

  1. This is so awesome Dani. Its crazy, our pastor talked about almost this exact thing on sunday! How we are create to worship, but instead of worshiping God we have turned to idols. Idols like love and money. Thank you for this:) I like the way you think!! haha
